Philosophy of Care
“As a Level II Trauma Center, the Medical Center provides residents throughout the region with access to local trauma care and ensures that critically injured patients have immediate access to trauma treatment,” said Dr. Veverka. “During the first hour after injury, referred to as the ‘golden hour,’ there is the highest likelihood that prompt medical attention will prevent death. Now that we’ve reached this milestone, it’s important to continue our hard work to ensure that we are providing exceptional care to each and every patient we treat.”
“Our trauma team includes trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, radiologists, intensivists and trauma trained nurses throughout the Medical Center,” he added. “We treat patients with multiple critical injuries such as rib fractures, collapsed lungs, internal organ injuries to the spleen, liver, kidneys, diaphragm, and bowel; fractured bones, back and spine fractures; trauma to spinal cord and head; and severe wounds and lacerations.”
