Laurie Thompson, F.N.P.-B.C., is an experienced, board-certified family nurse practitioner with MidMichigan Health. She specializes in urology, and sees patients in the office of Urologist Karla Witzke, D.O.
According to Laurie, urology is an important aspect of human life and if malfunctioning, it can greatly affect a patient’s daily lifestyle. “This specialty allows me to work collaboratively with my patients to improve their overall quality of life,” she said. “Having a family practice certification allows me to care for urology patients of all ages.”
Philosophy of Care
“I strive to create a professional, wholesome and honest relationship with my patients and their family members,” said Laurie. “I enjoy the process of assessing, diagnosing and developing a treatment plan with my patients to address their urological concerns and help them attain a comfortable and symptom-free life. My primary focus is to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.”
Special Interests and Procedures
According to Laurie, treatment for prostate cancer has come a long way and the developments currently in the testing phase are very promising. “For a long time, nanotechnology was always thought to be more theory than reality and the fact that this is now being used on humans to treat cancer is, to me, a modern miracle,” she added.
Laurie and her husband, Drew, enjoy spending time with their cat and golden retriever puppy. In their spare time, they like participating in general outdoor activities, including cycling and running. Laurie also enjoys horseback riding and is looking forward to purchasing a horse in the near future.
