Abood Salipi, M.D. is an internal medicine physician seeing patients at MidMichigan Medical Offices – Clare.
Philosophy of Care
“I came from a small community where everybody knows each other and takes care of each other like family, and that’s what drew me to Clare,” said Dr. Salipi.
“It is also the reason I went into medicine -- the feeling of being there to support other people. I previously practiced in a hospital in a small community in Ohio, and I liked that feeling of being tied to the community. I view my patients not so much as ‘customers,’ but more like family and friends. My patients will come to me when they need help, and I hope they will eventually consider me as a valuable part of their life and their family.”
Dr. Salipi arrived at his decision to practice internal medicine during his medical school rotations. He found that his time in internal medicine brought him closer to patients and enabled him to communicate with them on a more personal level than in other specialties.
“In internal medicine, you need a solid medical base and have to analyze a lot of symptoms to get to a diagnosis and offer the right treatment. But you also need to build a personal relationship with your patients, to understand their challenges and what supports they have available to help them. It is important to me to offer, not just medical treatment, but also the emotional support my patients need to succeed and be healthy.”
Dr. Salipi spent some time as a physician at remote oil company sites in the Syrian desert. While he found his work there interesting, he says he is happy to be in a place with more trees – and fewer snakes and scorpions.
“I grew up in the countryside back home, and during my time in the United States I have also lived in rural areas, so I am more at home in a place where I can be outdoors, go hiking and feel like I’m part of nature. I enjoy farming, and am looking forward to having my own backyard where I can do some gardening.
“I also enjoy exploring other cultures, and I’m looking forward to better understanding the local culture, including working with the Amish community.”
Dr. Salipi’s other hobbies include swimming, reading and listening to music.

This provider may accept other insurance, but your costs may be higher if they do not "participate" in your plan.
