Biography
Maged Rizk, M.D., Ph.D., is an interventional cardiologist with MidMichigan Health and is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, vascular and cardiothoracic surgeons, as well as cardiovascular trained nurses. He currently serves as the director of the cardiac catheterization lab and the chief of interventional cardiology.
Dr. Rizk is excited by new developments in interventional cardiology that promise even more effective and less invasive treatments for heart and blood vessel problems. “The field is continuously developing, providing us new treatment approaches to help patients live longer, healthier lives,” he said.
A special area of interest for Dr. Rizk is peripheral vascular disease, or narrowing of arteries outside the heart and brain. “It is under-diagnosed and under-treated,” he said. “Patients treated in earlier stages of peripheral vascular disease have better outcomes, with significant impact on their lifestyle and health.”
Philosophy of Care
“I care for my patients as if they were family members, with the same compassion and attention and with their best interests at heart,” Dr. Rizk said.
“I find great satisfaction in educating my patients and their families about heart and vascular diseases and how to live a healthy life to prevent them in the first place.”
Dr. Rizk chose to practice with MidMichigan Health because he values the organization’s high level of cardiology practice and feels that the state-of-the-art technology represents an important investment in the future of cardiac care for the community.
Dr. Rizk enjoys Midland as a great community and a nice area in which to live, work and raise a family. He and his wife, Magda, live in Midland and have three children.

Dr. Rizk’s special interests include angioplasty, atherectomy, cardiac catheterization, coronary arteriography, echocardiography, atrial septal defect percutaneous closure, PTCA, stent procedures, transesophageal echocardiography, rotablation and percutaneous valvuloplasty.
