Mark Puls M.D., is a general surgeon with advanced training in colon and rectal surgery. He specializes in the treatment of conditions and diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon and gallbladder. He also treats diseases involving the skin, breast and soft tissue, as well as hernias.

His attraction to general surgery was due to the wide range of decisions and patient problems. He felt that he could best help patients as a general surgeon. He sees patients by referral from their physician, as well as patients who are self-referred.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Puls’ philosophy of care is based on his commitment to provide excellent general surgical care to patients of this community. “I treat patients as if they are family, and doing the best I can to help every patient every day,” he said. “I want my patients to know that I care very much about them and their recovery process.” He is most satisfied helping his patients and seeing them recover from their illness.

Special Interests and Procedures

Dr. Puls performs colonoscopies, gastroscopies, cholecystectomies, abdominal surgeries, carpal tunnel releases and more.

Dr. Puls is a father of four sons. He and his wife reside in Alpena. He enjoys spending time with his family, as well as camping and fishing.
