Biography
Jean-Lucien Omekanda, M.D., is an internal medicine physician specializing in wound treatment and hyperbaric medicine. He sees patients at the Wound Treatment Center at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena, where he serves as the medical director for a multi-disciplinary team of specialists dedicated to healing chronic, difficult-to-heal wounds. As a member of Sound Physicians Hospitalist Group, Dr. Omekanda also cares for inpatients while they are in the hospital.
Philosophy of Care
“What attracted me to the field of internal medicine is the ability to create close relationships with my patients,” said Dr. Omekanda. “I hope to continue having relationships built on trust, understanding and respect with my wound treatment patients as well.”
“I treat every patient like family with a goal to provide the best possible care at the lowest possible cost. I want patients to see me because they trust me and feel comfortable in my clinical setting.”
“The most satisfying aspect of my work is to be able to contribute to my community in a positive way, the best way that I know!”
“I believe that the introduction of telemedicine is something that will continue to change and improve medicine as patients can now be reached in more remote locations. We have innovated with telemedicine in both the hospital inpatient setting and in the Wound Treatment Center, and it has helped patients in our rural service area to get the high-quality care they deserve with minimal travel.”
“My hobbies include playing sports, mostly outdoors. I also enjoy listening to music and playing the guitar.”
