Philosophy

"I will always make the patient feel comfortable. I will respect their privacy and give them all the information they need to better their quality of life."

Biography

Leah Martin, A.G.N.P.-B.C., is a board-certified adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner who specializes in vascular surgery. She works with Vascular Surgeon Enrique Criado, M.D., and is a member of MidMichigan’s comprehensive heart and vascular team. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, structural heart specialists, as well as vascular, thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons.

Leah has more than 20 years of nursing experience, including a strong background in both surgery and vascular care. “With my experience in the surgical setting, I am most looking forward to seeing patients through the entire process,” she said. “The most satisfying aspect of being part of this team will be experiencing this from the beginning and seeing patients make progress to a better quality of life by the treatments and teaching provided.”

The vascular patients that Leah has treated have left a lasting mark on her. “This patient population is unique in the way of multiple comorbidities, which present a challenge to the health care provider. I appreciate these patients, who are in need of care and teaching. I enjoy being a part of that rewarding commitment.”

Philosophy of Care

“My care is all encompassing,” Leah said. “I respect a patient’s decisions and am committed to following through with these choices. I am a very good listener and will always take as much time as needed to build a trusting relationship with all my patients.”

Leah’s goal is to treat every patient she encounters as one of her family members. “When patients entrust their care to you, they are deserving of all the treatment options and expert opinions that will come through collaboration with team members and compassionate care,” she said.

“I want my patients to know that I am committed to providing optimal care,” Leah said. “I may not always have the answers for them, but will stop at nothing to acquire this knowledge with my collaborating physician to provide the best care and treatment possible. I want my patients to know that I will always be there for them, whether by a phone call or office visit.”

In her spare time, Leah loves to spend time with her husband, Jeremy, and their daughters, Bryce and Karissa, and son, Nicklas. They spend most summers camping on Sanford Lake. Leah’s hobbies also include boating, waterskiing, dancing, sewing and crafting.
