Biography
David Lyons, D.O., is an orthopedic surgeon with specialized fellowship training in pediatric orthopedic surgery. Dr. Lyons treats both pediatric and adult general orthopedics patients and is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of injuries, disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. This system includes bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, nerves and tendons.
“I was drawn to the field of orthopedics because I enjoyed learning about various musculoskeletal diagnoses and treatments,” he said. “I feel that orthopedic surgeons have the unique ability to quickly treat certain problems and dramatically improve a patient’s quality of life. I also really enjoy the mechanical aspect of orthopedics and being able to use my hands to fix a patient’s problems.”
Philosophy of Care
According to Lyons, he treats his patients with the same level of care and respect that he would give any member of his family. “I like to build partnerships with each of my patients,” he added. “As a physician, I may provide certain recommendations based on my training and experience, but ultimately I work collaboratively with my patients to develop a treatment plan that is in their best interest.”
“The most satisfying aspect of my work, is being able to help patients of all ages, from newborns to grandparents, with their orthopedic conditions with or without surgery, and to improve their pain and quality of life,” he said. “I work hard to provide my patients with the highest level of care possible.”
Special Interests and Procedures
Dr. Lyons’ special interests include pediatric and adult ACL reconstruction and other sports medicine procedures, pediatric and adult fracture care, and hip and knee reconstruction. He feels the most exciting medical development happening in the field of orthopedics is emerging technologies like robotics and 3D printing.
