Philip Harris, M.D., is an otolaryngologist with MidMichigan Physicians Group. He specializes in diseases of the ear, the nose and sinus, the neck and associated glandular structures of the head and neck (thyroid, parotid, parathyroid), associated cancers, and sleep disorders that are treated by surgery. He brings unique skill sets in the use of robotic surgery to treat cancers and disorders of the head and neck and is a premier member of the Society for Robotic Surgery.
Dr. Harris took a diverse path to his medical specialty. He grew up in a small African nation, the Central African Republic, and completed high school in Ohio. He went on to study animal nutrition and pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. During his veterinary studies, the loss of a niece to a brain tumor led him to change his career path. He has devoted his medical career to improving the health of people affected by diseases of the head and neck.
Philosophy of Care
“I consider it a privilege to treat every person who comes to me for ENT care,” Dr. Harris said. “I treat each patient with respect and dignity. I work closely with them as they come to understand the nature of their medical condition and choose a treatment option. It is important that patients have local options that provide the very best care available.”
Dr. Harris seeks to advance his personal education daily and to implement advanced practice options for ENT disease. His professional goals are to actively participate in medical societies and academies, educational courses and lectures; to help educate medical residents; and to assist referring doctors in providing advanced local care of diseases of thyroid, sinus, cancer, sleep, ear, nose and throat.
