Biography
Alison Funka, D.N.P., A.G.N.P.-C., is a Breast Health Specialist at the Center for Women’s Health, located on the campus of MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland.
“I’ve always had a passion for women’s health,” she said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to accompany my patients along their breast health journey whether it’s through reconstruction or high risk prevention. I want to set women at ease by providing them options and educating them on the advancements in the field of breast health.”
Alison has over a decade of experience working in the field of breast oncology and quality improvement in breast health programs.
“I’m really happy with the advancements made in the field of breast health, especially with advanced imaging capabilities through tomosynthesis,” she said. “It allows clinicians to detect and identify early stage breast cancers as well as early stage risk factors for breast cancer. Early detection increases survival rates and we are fortunate to have the resources and tools we have for our patients.”
Philosophy of Care
“I am a true advocate for providing the best patient care options locally,” said Alison. “With the assistance of Michigan Medicine, we will be able to provide more breast health options right here at MidMichigan Health.”
In addition, Alison can identify with women, and understands the importance of breast health issues. Her patients will be offered a higher level of expertise in breast health, including advanced screenings and preventive measures.
“It’s an honor to be a part of the breast health team at MidMichigan, and a privilege to be working alongside doctors from Michigan Medicine as well,” she said.
Alison’s hobbies include traveling with her family, running and various activities with her kids. She is a native of Hemlock, Michigan.
