Melisa Fazio, P.A.-C., A.T.C., is a certified physician assistant and a member of MidMichigan Health’s comprehensive musculoskeletal team. Melisa sees patients in the office of Orthopedic Surgeon John Murphy, D.O.
Melisa has worked in sports medicine as a certified athletic trainer for many years and feels that field of orthopedics has provided her with the opportunity to continue to build upon her skills.
Philosophy of Care
Melisa’s goal is to help every patient get back to doing the physical activities they want and need to do to be successful in life. “I want to be an advocate for my patients and help them lead an active lifestyle,” she added. “I want to be able to meet patients where they are at and work together with them to develop a treatment plan that fits their lifestyle and goals.”
Being an athletic trainer, Melisa understands the hard work and motivation that goes into rehab and recovery after surgery. “I know that every patient has different goals following an injury or surgery and I want to help every patient reach their specific goals,” she said.
Special Interests and Procedures
According to Melisa, there is a lot of exciting research going on with stem cells and she feels that it will be interesting to see what the long-term data show. “If there is proven success in cartilage preservation/regeneration, this would be a major development for orthopedics,” she added. Melisa is certified in basic cardiac life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
In her free time, Melisa enjoys skiing, paddle boarding, biking and hiking. Having grown up in the Midland community, she is excited to be back practicing medicine here.
