Biography
Alonso Collar, M.D., is a cardiovascular and vascular surgeon with MidMichigan Physicians Group and is a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team at MidMichigan Health. This team includes cardiologists and interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, heart failure and structural heart specialists, as well as vascular and cardiovascular surgeons.
As a cardiovascular and vascular surgeon, Dr. Collar specializes in the surgical treatment of conditions and diseases affecting the heart and vascular system. He treats a wide variety of conditions, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic aneurysms and dissections, heart valve blockages and heart failure. He also treats patients with all forms of vascular disease, including those with aneurysms in the chest, abdomen or extremities; PAD; carotid disease or other blockages that may cause a stroke.
Before coming to MidMichigan, Dr. Collar served on the medical staff at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing where he specialized in cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery. He has practiced thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in the Lansing area since 1986.
