This safe test records the electrical activity in muscles. This test is used to evaluate function of nerves and muscles. For this test, you will be lying down and a tiny, single-use sterile needle will be temporarily inserted into the muscle(s) tested. Some range of discomfort may be experienced during this testing. This test is performed and interpreted by a neurologist.
Allow up to 60 minutes
- You must bathe on the day of your test
- Use no oils or lotions after bathing
- Continue normal diet and medications (bring a list of your medications)
Neurodiagnostic tests are performed in the Neuroscience Institute, located on the fourth floor of MidMichigan Medical Offices--Midland (on the Medical Center campus, next to the hospital)
