Sleep Disorders

The Importance Of A Good Night’s Sleep

Most people spend roughly one-third of their lives asleep. No wonder the quality of our sleep is so closely linked to the quality of our lives.

Lack of sleep is a contributing factor to conditions such as obesity, stress, heart disease, stroke, dementia and depression. In addition, drowsiness while driving contributes to more than 1,500 deaths each year in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Studies by the National Sleep Foundation show that more than 60 percent of American adults report having sleep problems a few nights a week. Many of these people suffer needlessly simply because they are unaware that a solution exists.

Sleep Clinics

MidMichigan’s Sleep Clinics can help patients with sleep concerns. Patients can be referred directly to see a provider who specializes in the treatment of sleep disorders. At our Sleep Clinic locations, patients are evaluated by an advanced practice provider who will also order all necessary testing and follow-up needed in an effort to provide comprehensive care. These may include PAP therapies and supplies, mask fits, pressure changes, DOT compliance and more.

Once an evaluation has been completed, our sleep specialists may refer you to one of our Sleep Disorders Lab locations for testing

Test Your Sleep Quality

If you're concerned that you're not getting enough sleep, take our online sleep quiz and discuss the results with your doctor.

If your symptoms don't point to a sleep disorder, you may want to try adjusting your lifestyle to improve the quality of your sleep. The National Sleep Foundation recommends specific habits for promoting healthy sleep.
