John Warren - Midland, MI
"Everyone involved in my surgery and recovery was great, and my ankle feels strong again. Today, I'm able to golf, travel and enjoy the activities I love.”
Ankle Replacement Surgery Allowed Him to Return to His Active Lifestyle
As an active individual, John Warren was not eager for surgery on his painful ankle. He wanted to continue traveling with his wife, working around their home and getting out on the golf course regularly. He was happy to have connected with Kent Biddinger, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon with specialized training in foot and ankle procedures who performs surgeries at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland.
“My interactions with Dr. Biddinger were thorough and informative,” said Warren. He was pleased that there was no rush to surgery and that all options were discussed, including bracing, fusion and total ankle replacement. In fact, Warren tried a couple of bracing options before deciding that a total ankle replacement would benefit him most.
“John was an ideal candidate for this type of surgery,” Dr. Biddinger explained. “He was a healthy body weight, active, and motivated in his recovery. He had a positive attitude the minute I met him and throughout the entire process.”
Warren was impressed with the staff on MidMichigan’s Joint Camp floor. They were attentive, keeping his ankle iced regularly and ensuring he was comfortable. Warren is very satisfied with the results. “The surgery went well, rehabilitation went well, and my ankle feels strong,” he said. “I'm able to do whatever I want to do with zero to minimal pain from the joint replacement. I couldn't be happier.”
Warren’s goal of not giving up his active lifestyle due to surgery was realized, and the process as smooth as he could have hoped for. “If I had one word to describe my surgery it would be comfortable,” Warren concluded. “The whole experience was positive. There wasn't a question that wasn't answered or an option that wasn't explored. I would recommend Dr. Biddinger and MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland in a heartbeat.”
