Teaching Kitchen Educational Series
Learn Practical Ways to Improve Your Overall Heart Health
We are excited to announce a new virtual Teaching Kitchen Educational Series that is being offered through MidMichigan’s Heart and Vascular Center. Diet, or what we eat, has been found to be a contributing, modifiable risk factor for heart disease. Each month we will focus on a differnt topic. This free educational series is aimed at helping people learn the importance of healthy eating to improve their overall heart health. Each 90-minute class was developed by a registered dietitian nutritionist and includes both an educational component, as well as a cooking demonstration which applies the concepts presented during class.
We are especially grateful to the Allen Foundation for making this program possible. Their generosity allows us to provide these classes free of charge to patients across all the communities we serve.
Healthy Weight, Healthy Heart
Class participants will learn what weight management is and why it’s important for overall heart health.
You will learn:
- Current weight guidelines
- Ways to improve their daily caloric intake
- Label reading, portion sizes
- Importance of exercise
This class will conclude with a cooking demonstration of four healthy recipes that can help fulfill one day’s worth of calories.
