Today, 35 percent of U.S. adults age 20 or older, an estimated 79 million Americans, have pre-diabetes. If left untreated, elevated blood glucose levels can lead to type 2 diabetes. The good news is lifestyle changes can help halt the progression of the disease and even return glucose levels to normal. "Steps to Healthy Living" is a three-week lifestyle modification class for individuals who want to live healthier and reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Each week, the group meets with a registered dietitian to learn about a variety of health and wellness topics designed to help participants make important lifestyle changes.
Topics include healthy eating, exercise guidelines, label reading, dining out and goal setting.
