Teaching Kitchen Educational Series

Learn Practical Ways to Improve Your Overall Heart Health

Photo of a bowl shaped as a heart with fruits and vegetables in it along with a stethoscope.

We are excited to announce a new virtual Teaching Kitchen Educational Series that is being offered through MidMichigan’s Heart and Vascular Center. Diet, or what we eat, has been found to be a contributing, modifiable risk factor for heart disease. Each month we will focus on a differnt topic. This free educational series is aimed at helping people learn the importance of healthy eating to improve their overall heart health. Each 90-minute class was developed by a registered dietitian nutritionist and includes both an educational component, as well as a cooking demonstration which applies the concepts presented during class.

We are especially grateful to the Allen Foundation for making this program possible. Their generosity allows us to provide these classes free of charge to patients across all the communities we serve.

Class participants will learn common cooking terms, cooking tool essentials, and safe cooking techniques.

They will also learn:

  • How to properly and safely use cooking preparation tools
  • How to accurately measure ingredients

In addition to learning tips for heart healthy cooking, participants will learn how to prepare two easy-to-cook recipes.
