For your safety, some face-to-face classes and support groups may be cancelled, offered virtually or otherwise adapted to follow social distancing guidelines. If you register for a class, we will notify you of any changes or cancellations using the email address or phone number you provide at registration. MidMichigan Health will offer a full refund if we cancel a class. In the event that you need to cancel, our cancellation and refund policy will apply.

Teaching Kitchen Educational Series

Learn Practical Ways to Improve Your Overall Heart Health

We are excited to announce a new virtual Teaching Kitchen Educational Series that is being offered through MidMichigan’s Heart and Vascular Center. Diet, or what we eat, has been found to be a contributing, modifiable risk factor for heart disease. Each month we will focus on a differnt topic. This free educational series is aimed at helping people learn the importance of healthy eating to improve their overall heart health. Each 90-minute class was developed by a registered dietitian nutritionist and includes both an educational component, as well as a cooking demonstration which applies the concepts presented during class.

We are especially grateful to the Allen Foundation for making this program possible. Their generosity allows us to provide these classes free of charge to patients across all the communities we serve.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are an important part of a healthy diet. They contain essential vitamins, minerals, fiber and other nutrients that are essential for good health. Does eating fresh versus frozen or canned produce really matter?

Participants will learn how to:

  • Incorporate more fresh local produce into their meal prep
  • The reason behind the popularity of the recent farm-to-table movement
  • Learn more about organic produce
  • How to plan meals around in-season produce
  • Learn how to choose fresh produce
  • The importance of eating the rainbow.

This class will conclude with a cooking demonstration of three recipes using fresh produce.

Refund Policy

If you are unable to attend an event for which you registered, we are happy to reschedule you for another available date, transfer your registration to another eligible person, or process a full refund. To receive a transfer or refund, you must call MidMichigan Health Line prior to the cancellation deadline for your event.
