I Help Patients Relax
I work in Diagnostic Imaging, preparing patients for X-rays and CT Scans. When I started at Gratiot seven years ago, we looked at the films on a view box. Now, everything’s digital. Physicians can view the images on their computer almost immediately after we’re done taking them.
The technology amazes me. Not only have we gone filmless, but they keep making bigger, better, faster machines that improve our diagnostic capabilities too.
Some patients want me to hold their hand when they come in for an X-ray or CT Scan. Others just want me to talk to them. That’s the most satisfying part of my job. It’s important, too, because in order to get good pictures for the radiologist, the patient needs to be relaxed and lying still.
I like to make sure everything’s lined up properly so the radiologist doesn’t have to make any adjustments to look at the image. Having new equipment and a new hospital is nice, but what’s more important are the people working inside – working together to provide good care for our patients.
It’s people like Morgan, her friendly smile and her attention to detail that you’ll find inside MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot – people with skills and compassion.
