Alma Opportunities

Primary Care

MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot is partnered with Alma College in offering a fantastic opportunity for NP/PA providers interested in a schedule that follows the Alma College Academic year! This unique schedule allows for a phenomenal work life balance while providing a strong sense of autonomy.

This primary care position will practice out of the Alma College – Wilcox Clinic. Work schedule is determined by the academic calendar year complimented by the ability to enjoy spring break, winter break, holidays, mid-semester breaks, and summers OFF! If this APP chooses to work during their off time, there is an opportunity to also work within our urgent care locations.

This APP will be responsible for seeing a wide range of visits to include acute visits, sports injuries, virtual visits, routine care for patients, and the ability to occasionally do minor in office procedures. There is an educational component in doing outreach on campus for events covering topics such as vaccinations, mental health, STD awareness, and more!

Midland Opportunities

Cardiothoracic Surgery (Full Time)

MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland is seeking an experienced NP/PA to work with our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This position is full time, Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. (hours may vary slightly). With a mix of responsibilities in the outpatient clinic, inpatient rounding, and operating room, this is a great opportunity to utilize all of your skills to provide the best care to our patients.

This position does have on-call requirements in addition to responsibilities for first call. Weeknight and weekend call is divided amongst 3 APPs and does include holidays. Post-call time off is coordinated with the team.

This Cardiothoracic surgery position includes responsibilities such as post-op follow-up, vein and radial artery harvesting, assisting in the operating room and minor bedside procedures. Due to the responsibilities, only experienced providers will be considered for this position. OR experience is strongly preferred.

This APP will be assigned a mentor as well as a dyad lead to ensure they have all of the support needed to acclimate into the role. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most well-known service lines within the MidMichigan Health system!

Cardiothoracic Surgery (Casual)

MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland is seeking an experienced NP/PA to work with our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This position is a casual position to assist in weekend coverage with one weekend per month preferred. There will also be the ability to pick up time off coverage as well.

This Cardiothoracic surgery position includes responsibilities such as inpatient rounding to include consults and post-op care, and assisting in the operating room. Due to the responsibilities, only experienced providers will be considered for this position. OR experience is strongly preferred.

There is no holiday requirement or outpatient clinic duties for the casual position.

Colorectal Surgery

MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland has an exciting opportunity for an NP/PA with (preferred) surgical experience. In addition to office visits, inpatient rounding, and OR expectations, this position acts as a care navigator and serves as a single point of contact for colorectal cancer patients.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing pre-operative patient education, ensuring completion of pre-operative testing, following patients post-operatively, and working collaboratively with the oncology team for patients receiving adjunct therapy. The APP will also be responsible for collection and presentation of information to the patient’s care team.

This daytime position is Monday through Friday. Hours may vary due to assisting surgeons in the operating room. At this time, call is not required but cannot be ruled out as the program continues to grow.

Hospital Medicine

MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland is seeking an eager and motivated NP/PA to join a very busy hospital medicine team in Midland, MI. This provider will be working alongside other APPs and Physicians to provide excellent care to our patients. Physicians are on the service 24/7 for support.

Primary job responsibility will be admissions and cross coverage. This APP must demonstrate an excellent ability to work with nursing staff.

This position is 7 on 7 off from 1:30 pm – Midnight. Candidates with inpatient experience are highly preferred. This APP must be able to handle high patient volumes and possess great communication and clinical skills.

Neurosurgery (Inpatient)

MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland is seeking an NP/PA to join our Neurosurgery team. This inpatient position is full time, Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (hours may vary slightly). This APP will have the ability to work alongside three of MidMichigan Health’s Neurosurgeons!

Inpatient responsibilities will include consults, post-op rounding, and discharges. Currently, there are no weekend, holiday, or call requirements but responsibilities may change as the service line continues to grow. At this time, this position does not require the APP to be in the operating room or do procedures. Experience is strongly preferred.

Vascular Surgery

MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland has a very exciting opportunity for an NP/PA interested in Vascular Surgery! This APP will have a close working relationship with our three vascular surgeons and current APP in the practice.

This position has responsibilities to include inpatient, outpatient, assisting in the OR, and call rotation. A travel/satellite clinic will likely be established in Mt. Pleasant or Clare.

The schedule will be day shift hours, with the average day running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flexibility will be needed with the end of day, as all consults will need to be completed before departure. There will be a weekend call requirement shared with the team, as well as a holiday rotation. IP rounding will be rotated with the other APPs in the service.

West Branch Opportunities

Hospital Medicine (casual position)

MidMichigan Medical Center – West Branch has a casual position for an experienced NP/PA to work with our hospital medicine team. Hours could be 4 p.m. - 12 p.m., 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., or 7 p.m. - 7 a.m., depending on shift availability.

Responsibilities include working with the hospitalist physician to see new admissions (2 to 4 admissions per shift, rounding on existing inpatients (patients shared between the physician and the APP), taking nursing calls and responding to code situations. This is an employed position with MidMichigan Physicians Group. Experience in inpatient setting is preferred. Applicant must have their board certification, Michigan license, CS3, and DEA.

Orthopedic Surgery (2 days/wk)

MidMichigan Medical Center – West Branch has an excellent part-time opportunity for a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join busy Orthopedic Surgeon, Cynthia Rubert M.D.

Job responsibilities include direct patient care in office including evaluation and management of musculoskeletal injuries for new patients and follow-up patients, and in-office procedures such as joint injections. The candidate will be responsible for inpatient rounding, discharges, ER and inpatient consults, and first- assist in OR. The anticipated schedule is two days per week (minimum of 16 hours) with occasional weekend and holiday requirements.

This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) must exercise the highest degree of professional judgment under the direction of a licensed physician. A self-starter who desires a busy practice would be ideal, as this is a fast-paced opportunity.
