New Option for Heart Patients
Heart rhythm disorders can come in many forms and at any age. When dealing with electrical issues, like tachycardia, treatments used to include medications for life or open heart surgery. MidMichigan Health Electrophysiologist Nilofar Islam, M.D., shares a new, more permanent solution for tachycardia with 9 & 10 News reporter Michelle Dunaway. By putting the patient into a tachycardia episode and viewing images to find the electrical abnormality, Dr. Islam can deliver radiofrequency energy to the area to terminate the tachycardia. Jake Moody was treated for tachycardia by Dr. Islam. He says, “This surgery is very minor and nothing to be scared of. If you need it, get it done. It’s a miracle what they can do now.”
