COVID-19 Update: New Visitor Restrictions, Class Cancellations, Information Hotline Established

Effective immediately, MidMichigan Health is implementing new visitor restrictions to protect patients, employees, health care providers and employees from the spread of illness. These changes will help minimize the number of people within MidMichigan’s Medical Centers in Alpena, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Midland, Mt. Pleasant and West Branch.

The new restrictions allow for only one, healthy adult visitor per patient. Children will not be allowed.

In addition to this change, earlier today, the health system announced visitor restrictions to its Maternal Health (Maternity) and Women’s Health Units allowing for one support person only; the support person must be healthy and must be the same person throughout their stay; and no children will be allowed.

In addition to the visitor restrictions, effective Monday, March 16, all classes, screenings and support groups have been canceled until April 5. Those who have questions regarding classes, screenings or support groups may contact MidMichigan Health Line at (800) 999-3199. Those who have questions about childbirth education classes and additional resources may contact Stephanie Leibfritz, R.N., M.S., manager of community health, at (989) 839-1886 or stephanie.leibfritz@midmichigan.org.

As a service to the community, MidMichigan Health has also published a COVID-19 informational hotline with a reminder of CDC guidelines and recommendations. The hotline can be reached toll-free at (800) 445-7356 or (989) 794-7600.
