Competitive Bike Race in West Branch Delayed Until May 2021

MidMichigan Health Foundation had made the difficult decision to postpone the highly anticipated Road Race Classic bicycle race scheduled for May 30 in West Branch until May of 2021. The race was slated to bring in cyclists from across the state with entry fees designated to support Compassionate Needs Fund at MidMichigan Medical Center – West Branch.

The foundation team has been in close contact with USA Cycling. All race permits are currently on hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Nicole Potter, director, fund development, said the decision did not come easily. “We were so excited to bring this race back to West Branch, but the health and safety of athletes, community members and staff are priority at this time,” she said. “We will look forward to a great race in May of next year.”

Potter, an avid cyclist, put together a course that winds through the Ogemaw Hills and checks many wish list boxes for avid racers with its steep inclines, challenging elevation, good-quality pavement and, very importantly, a safe riding location. Further details will be forthcoming on the May 2021 date and registration details.

Those with additional questions may contact Potter at (989) 343-3694 or nicole.potter@midmichigan.org.
