Free Lunch & Learn – Physical Therapy: A Safer Alternative to Opioids

To learn how physical therapy can help improve mobility and reduce pain, MidMichigan Medical Center – West Branch will host a free Lunch & Learn event on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event will take place in the Executive Dining Room of the Medical Center. The program is free for the public.

Pain is one of the most common reasons people seek health care. Most people who come to physical therapy come because they are in pain and not moving well. Research shows that early access to physical therapy can prevent pain from becoming chronic pain.

During the free program, physical therapists from the Rehabilitation Services Department at MidMichigan Medical Center – West Branch will discuss combating the opioid epidemic, how physical therapy can help, physical therapy strategies for pain relief, asking your doctor about physical therapy when prescribed an opioid, and seeking physical therapy first.

Registration is required and can be completed at www.midmichigan.org/lunchlearn. Those who need assistance with registration may call MidMichigan Health Line toll-free at (800) 999-3199.
