FREE Hernia Screening and Robotic Surgery Demo Event
MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland will be holding free hernia screenings and a public open house to test drive the robotic surgery system on Monday, June 17. This event will be held in Conference Room H1221 and H1224, located within the Hospital Entrance of MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland. The open house and robot demonstrations will take place from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. and the free hernia screenings will take place by appointment from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Hernia’s occurs when muscle tissue become weak or is damaged. Common symptoms of a hernia are weakness, pressure, burning the abdomen; a bulge or lump in the abdomen, pelvis, or groin; pain or discomfort when bending over, coughing, or doing heavy lifting; or an enlarged bully button.
Patients requiring hernia surgery may have the option for their hernia procedure to be performed robotically at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland with the da Vinci® Xi™ Surgical System.
The extreme precision possible with robotic surgery means smaller incisions, less pain, less blood loss, lower risk of infection or complications, a shorter hospital stay, faster recovery and less scarring. Currently, MidMichigan is using robotic surgery technology for general surgery, bariatric surgery, gynecologic surgery and urological procedures.
The public will be able to see a demonstration of how this state-of-the-art surgical system works, test drive the robot, learn about robotic surgery options and the benefits, as well as meet members of the Medical Center’s surgeons, clinicians and staff teams.
Those who would like to schedule an appointment for a free hernia screening, may register at www.midmichigan.org/herniascreening or call MidMichigan Health Line at (800) 999-3199. Registration is required and space is limited.
