Area residents have access to state-of-the-art technology and patient care services at MidMichigan Medical Center – Alpena thanks in large part to the ongoing fundraising of the Medical Center’s volunteers.

The annual Koeze Nut Sale has been one of the group’s most popular and long-standing events, appealing to donors and shoppers throughout the holiday season. The sale features a variety of candy and nuts and is held in the Medical Center’s main lobby near the gift shop. Included in the sale is a raffle for the impressive “Opulent Basket” filled with Koeze’s most popular items valued at $400.

Amanda Timm, volunteer services manager, is pleased that the nut sale continues to generate community excitement. “We have repeat customers and see new ones each year. It takes a team of dedicated volunteers to ensure we are able to staff this fundraiser for its duration, and we are so thankful for their efforts. Our fundraiser chair, Karen Morey, does an excellent job rallying the troops. We see business right up until the final day when the winner for the basket is drawn which will be December 20 this year,” said Timm.

Nut Sale hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Raffle tickets are available during those hours as well as on Saturday and Sunday in the Gift Corner. All proceeds from the sale will be used to support facility upgrades, advanced technology and patient care at the Medical Center in Alpena. “I am always inspired by the work ethic and passion of our volunteers,” Timm added. “They do so much for our patients and the Medical Center. They also get very excited to see the community come out to support the many fundraisers they organize. It’s pretty incredible.”

Those interested in becoming a hospital volunteer may contact Timm at (989) 356-7546. In addition to fundraising and managing the gift shop, volunteer opportunities are available in the Medical Center’s Cancer Center, surgical waiting room, front lobby and more.
