Stars Shone to Support Those in Need
A hillside of softly glowing candlelit luminarias provided a peaceful opportunity to reflect and remember loved ones and friends being recognized through support raised for MidMichigan Home Care patients and their families including the Woodland Hospice House. A starry blanket of remembrance and compassion embraced Dow Gardens to support MidMichigan Home Care patients and their families.
Nearly $10,000 was donated to the MidMichigan Health Foundation for Stars in the Gardens. Held in conjunction with the Dow Gardens Christmas Walk, funds raised from the program will support MidMichigan Home Care patients and their families, including those of the Woodland Hospice House. MidMichigan Home Care provides a variety of health-related products and services that help individuals remain independent at home. This includes hospice care.
A hillside of softly glowing candlelit luminarias provided a peaceful opportunity to reflect and remember loved ones and friends being recognized through support received through the program. A contribution of $25 or more enabled individuals to honor family and friends, living and deceased, with a beautiful, handcrafted porcelain ornament. The ornament, along with a letter explaining the special program and the name of the donor, was sent to those indicated. In addition, the names of the donors and honorees were displayed in the Dow Gardens barn each night of the Christmas Walk if the request was made by the deadline of November 30. Names given after this date will be displayed on the placards for 2019.
Stars in the Gardens ornaments are on sale all year long. Donations of any amount are also accepted from those who do not wish to purchase an ornament. Those who would like more information or wish to donate to Stars in the Gardens may contact the MidMichigan Health Foundation at (989) 839-1932 or visit www.midmichigan.org/starsinthegardens.
MidMichigan Home Care is also accepting hospice volunteers in the Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, Midland and Montcalm areas, including the Woodland Hospice House located in Mt. Pleasant.
