Sanislows Named Co-chairs of Love Light Trees in Midland
Dr and Mrs Charles Sanislow
Dr. Charles and Sallie Sanislow, two people who have devoted a lifetime of caring for others in the Midland community, will co-chair MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland’s 37th annual Love Light Trees program. Contributions to the MidMichigan Health Foundation from this event will support equipment needs and patient enhancements.
“Sallie and I are honored to be a part of this longstanding and much beloved tradition in the Midland community,” said Dr. Sanislow. “We have seen first-hand how the funds raised from the Love Light Trees program have improved the care offered to patients served by the Medical Center. Sallie and I look forward to another successful program thanks to the generosity and compassion of this wonderful community that we have been proud to call home all these years.”
Dr. Sanislow came to the Medical Center in 1965 and was the first surgeon to do vascular surgery as well as general surgery. He has held a number of leadership positions that have included chief of staff and chair of the Medical Staff Executive Committee for the Medical Center – Midland. He has also been a member of the planning, executive and board of directors. Dr. Sanislow has been a dedicated member of the Medical Center’s Cancer Committee and W. D. Towsley Student Loan Committee and was instrumental in the development of the breast health program at the Medical Center. He is currently a member of the MidMichigan Health Advisory Council and medical director of the Noninvasive Vascular Lab.
Sallie Sanislow has also devoted her skills and compassion to caring for others. She served as a registered nurse for the Midland Surgical Group until her retirement. Sallie remains very involved in her church and volunteers reading the bible to residents of area nursing homes. Together the couple has raised four children.
As program chairs, the Sanislows will oversee the Love Light Trees ceremony where the Love Light Trees are illuminated. This year’s lighting ceremony will be Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., in the Hospital Entrance Lobby of the Medical Center in Midland. Open House festivities will take place prior to the formal lighting ceremony beginning at 6 p.m.
