On a recent chilly night guests from as far west as Midland and as far east of Tawas gathered at the base of the 30 foot pine tree in front of MidMichigan Medical Center – West Branch to celebrate the first annual Love Light Trees ceremony.

Under the auspices of the MidMichigan Health Foundation, the Love Light Trees program is raising support for the Healthaccess program, which provides resources to the uninsured and underinsured, and also for equipment needs and patient enhancements for MidMichigan Medical Center – West Branch. Pastor J. Daniel Stoneback and Peter Jackson served as co-chairs of the Love Light Trees program.

Approximately 40 people attended the event that began with a welcome and invocation provided by Pastor Stoneback. The Light-Hearted Quartet led the crowd in singing Silent Night and Away in the Manger, which was followed by each individual reciting their loved ones name and lighting their remembrance candle. After which, all joined in to sing Joy to the World as the 30 foot pine tree was illuminated for the first time. Entertainment and refreshments continued in the Medical Center’s front lobby that included an appearance by Santa Claus.

Contributions to the MidMichigan Health Foundation for the Love Light Trees program in West Branch continue to be welcomed and can be made in honor or in memory of others.
