One-of-a-Kind Comfort Care Suite Now Open at Medical Center in Midland

Comfort Care Suite Room photo at MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland. Thanks to the generosity of funds provided by Cobblestone Homes’ Homes for the Holidays event, the completion of the new Comfort Care Suite at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland was celebrated in December 2017. The one-of-a-kind room is directly connected to a patient room, and offers a restful place for family and friends to stay by their loved one’s side while in the hospital.

“At MidMichigan Health, we understand that being in the hospital can be an extremely difficult time not just for the patient, but for their family as well,” said Donna Rapp, senior vice president, MidMichigan Health, and president, MidMichigan Health Foundation. “Our hope is that the suite provides families a feeling of comfort and sense of peace by offering a restful place for them to stay by their loved one’s side while the patient is nearing the end of their life in the hospital.”

The suite, located on Floor 5 of the Medical Center, was designed by Cobblestone and built by Three Rivers Corporation. It features a fireplace and comfortable furnishings, including a bed with an end table, pull-out couch, dining table and desk, soft lighting, a kitchenette and bathroom.

“When someone is undergoing treatment in the hospital, it places a strain on the entire family,” said Mark Wahl, co-owner of Cobblestone Homes. “It’s not easy to leave a loved one or family member in that situation. Now, with the completion of the Comfort Care Suite, families will have the opportunity to comfortably stay together.”

Funds for the Comfort Care Suite were raised during the 2015 and 2016 Homes for the Holidays events, during which owners of houses built by Cobblestone Homes opened their homes for visitors to tour through. More than 1,000 guests toured the homes, which were decorated for the holiday season.
