MidMichigan Home Care Seeking Hospice Volunteers

Whether it’s providing companionship to a person in the final months and weeks of their life or offering support to family members and caregivers, volunteers provide an important role in hospice care.

MidMichigan Home Care is accepting hospice volunteers in the Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Mecosta, Midland and Montcalm areas, as well as for Woodland Hospice House.

Hospice volunteers are an integral part of the hospice care team. Volunteers provide physical and emotional support during an important and stressful time in the lives of patients and their families. Caring for a terminally ill loved one can be exhausting and volunteers can provide opportunities to get away for a much needed break.

Volunteer opportunities are available in a variety of areas, including bereavement support, companionship, fundraising and special events, gardening and landscaping, life review conversations, light housekeeping, music therapy, office administration, pet therapy, reception desk, respite care, sewing and vigils.

Those who are interested in becoming a hospice volunteer may apply at www.midmichigan.org/volunteers/hospice. Those who have questions may submit them at www.midmichigan.org/volunteers/homecarequestions, and MidMichigan Home Care’s volunteer coordinator will contact you.
