Charlie Meyette, registered respiratory therapist at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland, was recognized for her excellent patient care, teamwork and the positive example she sets for other employees in a ceremony on July 11 in which she was named this year’s recipient of the Bernard E. Lorimer Award.

Meyette works in the Medical Center’s Pulmonary Function Testing Lab. She also assists the other MidMichigan Medical Centers in Alma, Alpena, Clare, Gladwin, Mount Pleasant and West Branch with training and community education related to pulmonary disease and respiratory care.

Her co-workers, who nominated her for the award, said she is a natural leader with the ability to instruct in a professional, informative and fun manner. She has a calm demeanor, and a positive attitude that is infectious to those around her.

“The Lorimer Award is like being selected into our Hall of Fame,” said Greg Rogers, president, MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland. “It’s a lifetime award for an employee’s commitment to our Medical Center. Charlie is very deserving of this award. She’s an exceptional employee and is a wonderful example of someone who truly follows our organization’s mission, vision and values.”

Meyette accepted the award in the company of an auditorium full of co-workers, family and friends at the Medical Center. She said, “”It’s truly an honor to receive the Lorimer Award. I have been blessed to have been a part of this organization, medical team and community. I have loved being a respiratory therapist, taking care of the patients, their families and instructing respiratory students throughout the years. As much as I have given, I feel like I have received so much from MidMichigan. I would like to thank all my co-workers in the Respiratory Care Department and Medical Center for their support over the last 32 years.” She thanked her husband, Rob, and family for their encouragement throughout her career.
