Local businesses were recognized recently for the role they play in improving the quality of health care for residents in and around Alpena.

MidMichigan Health Foundation’s Business Relations Committee hosted a reception to acknowledge members of their Business Honor Roll. The committee engages businesses with the goal of fostering support for the shared mission of maintaining a medical center with the best technology and services possible for the community.

Business Honor Roll memberships currently support upgrades to the Medical Center’s Cardiac Cath Lab’s Angiography system. The system uses x-rays to diagnose diseases of the blood vessels of the body, including the heart, and guide minimally invasive surgery of the blood vessels and arteries. This important improvement translates to the most precise diagnoses and even better overall heart care for area patients. Additionally, Honor Roll members sponsor the annual Aliferis Memorial Race, a family-focused walk/bike/run encouraging healthy lifestyles which will be held September 1.

This year’s recognition event was held at Oak City Construction. As new members, Oak City was excited about becoming more involved with the Medical Center and welcomed like-minded businesses to their new offices.

Ann Diamond represented the MidMichigan Health Foundation and was very pleased with the turnout and inspired by the growth of the Honor Roll.

“It’s great to see so many new businesses join us in our mission to continually improve technology and services for our patients,” said Diamond. “Not only do they support important upgrades at the Medical Center, memberships also further connect business owners and their employees to the larger community through their commitment to health and wellness. We all benefit from access to the best healthcare available, and they understand this.” Fifty-nine businesses from a variety of industries were recognized for their support of the MidMichigan Health Foundation.

Those interested in becoming a Business Honor Roll member or have any questions about the program may contact Diamond at (989) 356-7738 or ann.diamond@midmichigan.org.
