Heart patients served by MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot are being supported through donations made to the MidMichigan Health Foundation for the Love Light Trees program. More than $5,500 was donated to help purchase an imaging bed for patients receiving echocardiogram procedures at the Medical Center. Volunteers David Deyoub and Linda Lopez served as co-chairs of the annual Love Light Trees event.

“The winter holidays are a particularly special time in our lives—times when friends and families gather and our most precious memories are made,” said Marita Hattem-Schiffman, president, MidMichigan Medical Centers in Alma and Mt. Pleasant. “When loved ones pass they leave us with these memories to cherish and through the act of loving remembrance they live on in us.”

“We are so fortunate that our community chose to honor their loved ones by contributing to the Love Light Trees program to help us purchase life-saving and comfort providing equipment,” continued Hattem-Schiffman. “We were also honored to host a special evening to light our Love Light Trees to celebrate all those who have touched our lives.”

Contributions to the MidMichigan Health Foundation for the Love Light Trees program in Gratiot will help purchase an imaging bed to support patients undergoing echocardiograms. An echocardiogram is a test that uses sound waves to create pictures of the heart for diagnostic purposes. Funds will help purchase this specialized bed that will elevate and move, enabling the sonographer to better conduct the test while also maintaining comfort for the patient undergoing the procedure.

Contributions can be made year-round to the MidMichigan Health Foundation for the Love Light Trees program. Gifts are welcomed to remember a loved one or honor friends. Donations can also be used to commemorate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary. Those who would like more information, or wish to donate to the Love Light Trees may contact the MidMichigan Health Foundation at (989) 839-1932 or visit www.midmichigan.org/lovelighttrees.
