MidMichigan Governance Members Recognized Who Serve Gratiot, Isabella Counties and Beyond

Local community leadership and involvement are vital components of MidMichigan Health’s governance practice which includes MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot and MidMichigan Medical Center – Mt. Pleasant.

“Our board members are an engaged group of skilled and talented volunteers from our own communities who are attuned to the needs of Gratiot and Isabella Counties,” said Marita Hattem-Schiffman, president of MidMichigan Medical Centers in Alma and Mt. Pleasant. “Through their leadership, expertise, and most importantly, their commitment of time, we are able to better serve our patients and our communities.”

Board members serving MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot and MidMichigan Medical Center – Mt. Pleasant are: Laura Bever, chair, of Alma; Kelly Bebow, vice chair, of St. Louis; Matthew Cary of Elwell; Nancy Gallagher of Alma; Alan Gatlin of Alma; Marita Hattem-Schiffman of Alma, president of MidMichigan Medical Centers in Alma and Mt. Pleasant; William Henderson of Shepherd; Todd Olivieri of Mt. Pleasant; Diane Postler-Slattery of Midland, president and CEO of MidMichigan Health; Sunil Rangwani, M.D., of Mt. Pleasant; Donald Schurr of Mt. Pleasant; Jeff Smith, M.D., of Alma; Erik Spindler of Mt. Pleasant; Scott Strom, D.O., of Mt. Pleasant; Sara Wassenaar, D.D.S., of Alma and Jim Wheeler of Alma.

During board meetings, held six times a year, board members address topics such as community health status, the granting of medical staff privileges, review of financial performance and clinical quality, as well as the patient experience and employee and provider satisfaction.

“We’re energized about the strength of our governance members,” said Hattem-Schiffman. Together, our new and returning board members are continuing to guide us toward our important community needs in concert with the mission, vision and values of our MidMichigan.”
