Pleasant.

Area residents receiving treatment for cancer at the Medical Centers in Gratiot and Mt. Pleasant are being comforted in a special way through items donated by a group of caring women from Resurrection Life Church in St. Louis.

From warm fuzzy slippers to large-print cross word puzzles, the items are meant to comfort patients as they receive treatment.

“We also hope that what we bring to these individuals is a warm feeling that reminds them that there are people who care for them and want to make this challenging time in their lives just a little bit easier,” said Jill Huntoon, member, Resurrection Life Church.

Accepting the gifts were Melissa Hoag, breast nurse navigator, MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot and Candy Bendon, office assistant, Breast Health Program, MidMichigan Medical Center – Gratiot.

“We offer our gratitude on behalf of every patient that is being impacted by their compassion and support,” expressed Hoag. “Going through treatment for cancer can be a lonely, extremely difficult experience. Having complete strangers reach out to show others that they care can have such a powerful impact.”
