Tara Neeb, D.N.P., R.N., is presented with the American Nurses Association of Michigan’s 2017 Nurse of the Year Award.
Tara Neeb, D.N.P., R.N., was recently recognized by the American Nurses Association (ANA) of Michigan as the 2017 Nurse of the Year. The annual award recognizes a nurse who maintains a current ANA membership and who constantly surpasses expectations of professional practice, has a commitment and dedication to the profession of nursing and has had an outstanding achievement in the past year.
Neeb began her career with MidMichigan Health in 2010 as a floor nurse. After receiving her Master of Science in Nursing degree, she joined the Education and Organizational Development Department as a clinical education specialist in 2014. Neeb recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree.
As a clinical education specialist, Neeb’s primary responsibility is to onboard and train nurses who are newly hired and currently working for MidMichigan Health. In addition, during the past year, she facilitated the approval of a Clinical Ladder Program for nurses at MidMichigan Health.
“We are deeply proud of Tara’s achievement as it is a reflection of her commitment to nursing academia and her passion for nursing and the growth of the nursing profession,” said Jason Sheffer, M.B.A., corporate director, organizational development and training, MidMichigan Health. “We’re designing our educational criteria to meet the next generation of clinicians and Tara has been instrumental in these changes, such as our newest REACH program. This is only a small glimpse at the ingenuity that Tara brings to nursing education.”
The REACH Program is a professional advancement program at MidMichigan Health designed to reward, recognize and retain nurses for engaging in professional development activities.
Neeb was presented with the Nurse of the Year Award during a celebration on Friday, Oct. 27, at The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Mich.
