Cardiologist Joins Comprehensive Heart and Vascular Team
Waleed Doghmi, M.D.
Cardiologist Waleed Doghmi, M.D., recently joined MidMichigan Health as the newest member of MidMichigan’s comprehensive heart and vascular team. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, as well as vascular, thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons. Dr. Doghmi currently welcomes new patients to his office in Midland, as well as his satellite offices in Alma and Mt. Pleasant.
As a cardiologist, Dr. Doghmi works with patients who have a variety of cardiac-related conditions such as coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, peripheral vascular disease, valvular and structural heart disease, congenital heart defects and other complex cardiac conditions.
Dr. Doghmi completed a fellowship in invasive cardiology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease and holds additional certifications in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular computed tomography and vascular ultrasound.
According to Dr. Doghmi, the field of cardiology has been exploding with exciting developments in the last few years that will change the way cardiologists practice for years to come. These include new treatments for structural heart diseases like transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), left atrial appendage occlusion devices for atrial fibrillation, thromboembolism prevention, mitral valve clips for mitral insufficiency, and new stents for coronary artery disease.
“I treat all my patients like I treat my family members,” said Dr. Doghmi. “I like my patients to be well informed about their cardiac issues and to be good advocates for themselves. This allows them to participate and make the right choices for their health care. I also enjoy educating and answering their questions and concerns.”
Dr. Doghmi performs a variety of non-invasive diagnostic cardiac tests including cardioversions, exercise stress tests, echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), electrocardiograms (ECG), Holter monitors, event monitors and nuclear stress tests.
He welcomes new patients to his main office located at 301 W. Wackerly Street in Midland. He also holds satellite offices in Alma at 160 E. Warwick Drive, Suite 1200, and at MidMichigan Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant at 4851 E. Pickard Street, Suite 2300. Appointments may be made by calling (989) 832-0900.
