Development Council at MidMichigan Medical Center - Alpena
The Development Council was created in May 1994 when hospital leaders recognized that an uncertain future in funding required the participation of local citizen volunteers. Their efforts help to ensure that MidMichigan Health and MidMichigan Medical Center - Alpena remains at the forefront of providing state-of-the-art healthcare and diagnostics.
The Development Council has set its sights on raising funds to benefit MidMichigan Health Foundation, providing educational programs for local professionals and community members, and opportunities for input between citizens, industry and hospital leadership.
Members of the Development Council have raised over $12 million and helped to fund the outpatient renovation/expansion project, the construction of the Cancer Center, and the renovation of the Emergency Department. Over 50 community-minded individuals volunteer their time and talents to benefit MidMichigan Medical Center - Alpena and our area residents.

Message from Hal Neiman, Chairman
Welcome to MidMichigan Medical Center- Alpena’s Development Council’s Web Site Home Page. Most of us would find it difficult to describe what a Development Council does. As the Chairman of the Development Council let me make an attempt to explain what it has meant to me over the several years I have been privileged to serve as the Volunteer Chairman.
The Development Council’s role is to raise funds and friends for MidMichigan Medical Center - Alpena. Many worthwhile projects never make it as a priority in the hospital budget. With limited funds, more critical activities take precedence. But with 50 plus volunteers sitting on 5 - 6 standing committees and being directed and supported by Ann Diamond, Development Council Director; many amazing projects are completed and many giving individuals are added to the hospital’s support group. Ann is a true professional, successfully navigating the Development Council's progress for many years.
I must mention the Comfort Care Suite, one of many projects the Development Council has proudly funded. It was designed to offer comfort and support to friends and family members of patients facing end of life experiences. The Comfort Care Suite continues to make a very positive difference during very difficult times.
If you have any interest in further information or getting involved in any way, I urge you to get in touch with Ann Diamond. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or (989) 356-7738.
Hospitals are critical to the life and vibrancy of every community. The Development Council continues to enhance our hospital and our community. Please join us in this worthwhile endeavor.
