Volunteer Opportunities at MidMichigan Medical Center - West Branch

Our volunteers serve in many capacities and are motivated by their desire to serve others. Their dedicated effort to provide direct assistance to patients, support paid staff members, and raise funds for medical equipment and renovation projects makes a direct impact on the quality of service at our hospital. By helping others, many volunteers find that they too benefit from personal growth and development.

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities, with typical time commitments ranging from a few hours per month to several days per week. A minimum commitment of one (1) shift per month in the service area of your choice is required; although volunteers may offer as many shifts as their schedules allow. A volunteer must commit to actively volunteer for a minimum total of sixty-four (64) hours per calendar year.

Volunteer Opportunities

Guest Services: is a very important area to our patients and their families. Since you are the first impression of the Medical Center, a cheerful attitude and smiling face are essential. A few duties of Guest Services include answering phones, assigning a transporter to the call, and assisting with taking patients from their rooms to their specified patient treatment area. Volunteers must have the ability to push wheelchairs, stretchers, and patient beds.

Patient Care: is very rewarding for the right person. You will be involved with providing patients with various comforting touches including offering blankets and assisting staff with clerical duties. Areas of service include Emergency Department and Surgical Pre-Op.

Clerical: support is a very essential part of MidMichigan’s everyday activities. Duties could include copying documents, preparing mailings and assisting staff as needed. Walking and light lifting could be necessary.

Special Activities and Fundraising: go hand-in-hand. This is the perfect area for the person who wants to be involved with both the community and staff. You could be involved in planning an event; selling raffle tickets; or being a volunteer ambassador within the community. Must be able to communicate effectively with the public.

Gift Shop: sales generate the major portion of funds raised by the volunteers in support of MidMichigan Medical Center - West Branch. You will enjoy working with people in the Gift Shop. Basic money and math skills are important in this area.
