Preceptor Program

MidMichigan Health has internally certified preceptors that have completed our comprehensive training program. The Preceptor Program provides an overview of the role of a preceptor, including concepts related to being an educator, evaluator, socializer, protector, and role model. The class includes basic adult learning principles and how to be a leader through preceptorship. After course completion, nurses become part of a group of preceptors that are offered ongoing courses to ensure proficiency in their preceptor role.

The Preceptor Program is offered entirely online or in a face-to-face format. One preceptor each year is recognized as an Outstanding Preceptor during the nursing excellence award presentation during our Annual Nursing Symposium. Over 200 nurses are certified, and the number continues to grow each day, building a network of experienced preceptors.
