Michael Bassett

Michael Bassett - MSU Medical StudentMichael is from Delton, MI. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in Kinesiology. Michael has worked as a research assistant at Michigan State University Kellogg Biological Station. He completed student volunteer work at Spectrum Health Pennock Hospital, Fuego volcano relief mission work with CFCI Gutamala, Grand Rapids Children's Museum - Diagnosis: F.U.N., and at Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center. Michael enjoys playing soccer, weight lifting, dancing and art in his spare time.

Lauren English

Lauren English - MSU Medical StudentLauren is from Port Sanilac, MI. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Central Michigan University. She completed research in exercise is medicine and volunteered with the Children's Miracle Network through the Miss American Foundation Crowns against Cancer and ASPIRE of Mid-Michigan, as a group fitness instructor. Lauren enjoys running, hiking and baking.

Abigail Gizinski

Abigail Gizinski - MSU Medical StudentAbigail is from Ada Arbor, MI. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Calvin College in Biology. Abigail has worked as a biology lab teaching assistant and completed research with Dr. Abigail Wenzlick - "Personality of Medical Students: How Different Traits Influence Multiple Mini Interview Performance". She volunteered for Schools of Hope literacy program, Kabudula Malawi; triage pediatric patients and observed health care in rural Africa, and work a local pediatrician and dentist to provide physicals, lab work and medications to primary school-aged children in Haiti. In her free time, Abigail likes to read, bake spend time outdoors and hike.

Joshua Hales

Joshua Hales - MSU Medical StudentJoshua is from Alger, MI. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan, Dearborn. Some of his recent research involves bimetallic nanoparticle bisensors and volunteered with Detroit Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Michigan. Josh is also a member of the John Dewey Learning Society. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, playing classical guitar and traveling.

Michael Hubbell

Michael Hubbell - MSU Medical StudentMichael is from Cedar, MI. He hold has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Albion College. Michael has been employed as a phlebotomist and done volunteer work with elementary children. Michael enjoys spending time with his partner Jessica and his cats Axle and Snowflake as well as watching sports, biking and reading.

Molly Kempa

Molly Kempa - MSU Medical StudentMolly is from Midland, MI. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Grad Valley State University in Biomedical Science. Molly has volunteered at Shelterhouse in Midland and Helen DeVos Children's Hospital as a Child Life Volunteer in Grand Rapids. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and her dog Oliver; as well as outdoors, sports and movies.

Catherine (Katie) Klammer

Katie Klammer - MSU Medical StudentKatie is from Hong Kong, China. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Concordia University, Chicago. Katie was a research assistant for a pharmacogenomics project at the University of Chicago studying medication adherence at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids. She volunteered as a caregiver for orphaned infants at the Baobei Foundation. Katie enjoys baking pies and scuba diving.

Jamie Kozdorn

Jamie Kozdron - MSU Medical StudentJamie is from Harbor Beach, MI. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) in Biology. During her studies, Jamie worked as a receptionist at SVSU, Office of the Provost/Academic Affairs. She has volunteered with AL!VE, a health park that provides inspiration and support for the greater Charlotte and mid-Michigan communities; as well as volunteering at Harbor Beach Community Hospital. Jamie enjoys spending time with her husband Henry, spending time with family, crocheting and game night.

Michael Ponkowski

Michael Ponkowski - MSU Medical StudentMichael is from Washington, MI. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Detroit, Mercy. Michael completed research in the evaluation of chest x-rays as a screening tool in pediatric blunt thoracic trauma patients. He volunteered with physicians in the Detroit area to provide medical services to the homeless. In his spare time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and friends, running, and playing and watching sports.

Kyle Sproull

Kyle Sproull - MSU Medical StudentKyle is from Saginaw, MI. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Saginaw Valley State University. Kyle was a Job Coach at Saginaw vocational Rehabilitation Center and a research assistant at Mary Free Bed in Grand Rapids. He volunteered as a summer camp counselor with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Kyle enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, family time, karate and going to the gym.

Leah Starks

Leah Starks - MSU Medical StudentLeach is from Midland, MI. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Grand Valley Sate University. Leach researched the impact of obesity on treatment and outcomes of operable breast cancer. She was a graduate assistant grader for MSU CHM Department of Academic Affairs. Prior to matriculation, Leah worked as a nurse technician at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s. She is a MSU CHM Admissions Student Ambassador, served on the Grand Rapids Surgical Interest Group Executive Board, and worked as a volunteer counselor at a Pregnancy Resource Center. In her spare time, Leach enjoys spending time with her family, running and reading.

Rochelle Versalle

Rochelle Versalle - MSU Medical StudentRochelle is from Paw Paw, MI. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley Sate University in Biomedical Sciences. Some of Rochelle's most recent research includes seizure patterns in Drosophila melanogaster; Cost-related medication non-adherence in elderly emergency department patients, antibiotic usage in infants with suspected ventilator-associated infections, and treatment review of intubated bronchiolitis PICU patients. She has volunteered with International Service Learning in Belize and Kids Health for Haiti. Rochelle enjoys spending time with her two cats, Maya and Callie as well as reading, music and scrapbooking.
