Accreditations Demonstrate Quality

Hospitals
All four medical Centers in Alma, Clare, Gladwin and Midland are accredited by the Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization. This signifies that MidMichigan's Medical Centers demonstrate a commitment to quality and safety. Learn more about how the Joint Commission helps hospitals measure quality. Our medical centers also participate in quality improvement programs with the Michigan Peer Review Organization, such as Medicare's national voluntary hospital reporting initiative.

Home Care
MidMichigan Home Care is accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP) and is Medicare-certified. Medicare.gov provides a tool that enables you to compare the quality of MidMichigan and other home health agencies.

Nursing Homes
Both MidMichigan Stratford Village and MidMichigan Gladwin Pines are licensed by the state of Michigan as approved nursing home facilities. Quality scores at both facilities are above average as reported by Medicare, which rates and compares quality measures.

Cancer Care
The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer has designated the Medical Center in Midland as an Approved Community Hospital Cancer Program. This means the Medical Center provides of a full range of diagnostic, treatment and supportive cancer services.

Breast Health
The Breast Health Program at MidMichigan's Center for Women's Health has been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. This designation is given only to centers that have undergone a rigorous evaluation and performance review, demonstrating compliance with NAPBC's standards.

Diabetes Care
Our diabetes education program, which was established as the first program in the state in 1985, is certified by the Michigan Department of Community Health as a Michigan Certified Diabetes Self-Management Education Program. MidMichigan's diabetes program also has been awarded "recognition" by the American Diabetes Association in accordance with the National Standards for Diabetes Patient Education Programs.

Laboratories

MidMichigan laboratories are accredited by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) as well as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) with a certificate of accreditation according to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
MidMichigan Regional Imaging is accredited in Magnetic Resonance Imaging by the American College of Radiology (ACR).  This accreditation is awarded to facilities that achieve high practice standards, and is based on a peer-review evaluation.

Mammography
All of MidMichigan Health's mammography facilities have received the American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation.

Pharmacy
The MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland pharmacy is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists® for its post-doctorate residency program, the only one in Michigan north of Interstate 96.

Vascular Lab
Since 1994, the Non-invasive Vascular Lab at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland has been accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL).  We are the only hospital-based department north of Flint to have this accreditation.
