Autologous Blood Donation

Your doctor may recommend that you donate your own blood for your upcoming surgery to minimize certain risks associated with blood transfusions. This self-donation procedure is known as autologous blood donation.

If your doctor determines that autologous donation is appropriate for you, your doctor’s office will contact Michigan Blood to make arrangements.  A nurse from Michigan Blood will contact you to obtain some medical history and to schedule the donation(s).  The number for Michigan Blood is (989) 755-5387.
