The following classes are offered at various MidMichigan Health locations:
Managing Diabetes with Insulin
Designed for those with type 1 diabetes, or adults with type 2 diabetes who take insulin. The class is an overview of managing diabetes with insulin. Participants review how insulin works in the body, accurate techniques to give an injection and test blood sugar, how food affects blood sugar levels and more. The program includes several sessions, meeting weekly. The diabetes team of a registered nurse and a dietitian develop a personalized plan of care to optimize your diabetes management. A physician's referral is required to register for this class, and insurances are billed.

Managing Type 2 Diabetes
Designed for newly diagnosed or previously diagnosed adults with type 2 diabetes who use diet or oral medication therapy. The class provides an overview of type 2 diabetes and includes self-care skills training. Topics covered include: medications, meal planning, blood sugar testing, what to expect from your doctor and more. The program includes three sessions meeting weekly. The team consists of a diabetes nurse and dietitian working with the patient to set goals for healthier living.
A physician's referral is required to register for this class, and insurances are billed.
