Call Responsibilities

First Year

• 2 months as Night Family Medicine Service resident
  • Sunday through Thursday, 8:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • Handle evening and night emergencies and critical care unit admissions
  • No other call responsibilities during the Night Family Medicine Service rotations
  • Family Medicine Service coverage average two weekend days per month 

Second & Third Year

• Participate in Family Practice Center call with third-year residents
• Rotate with peers to provide after-hours and weekend coverage for Family Practice Center patients
• Handle concerns over the telephone
• Faculty physician on call with you for assistance, discussion and supervision
• Year-long average call is one in six evenings
