Paula J. Klose, M.D.

Community Assistant Dean and Family Medicine Clerkship Director

Dr. Klose is a family medicine specialist with MidMichigan Physicians Group in Midland. She is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Human Medicine where she completed the third and fourth years at the Upper Peninsula campus. She is a graduate of the Family Medicine Residency Program at MidMichigan Medical Center–Midland. Dr. Klose is board certified in family medicine and has been in practice since 1986.

Jeffrey F. Smith, M.D.

Junior Surgery/Senior Surgery Clerkship Director

Dr. Smith is a general surgeon with Great Lakes Surgical Associates in Alma.  He graduated from Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and completed a residency in general surgery at Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals, Saginaw, Michigan.

Natalie L. DeNooyer Kroll, D.O.

Obstetrics/Gynecology Clerkship Director

Dr. Kroll practices with MidMichigan Physicians Group Obstetrics/Gynecology. She is a graduate of Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, East Lansing, Mich., and completed a residency in obstetrics/gynecology at Genesys Regional Medical Center, Grand Blanc, Mich.

Kerry L. Pierce, M.D.

Psychiatry Clerkship Director

Dr. Pierce is a psychiatrist with MidMichigan Physicians Group in Midland. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, La., where he also completed a residency in psychiatry. Board certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry, Dr. Pierce has been in practice since 1992.

Francisco A. Lossio

Pediatrics Clerkship Director

Dr. Lossio is a pediatrician at the Pediatric Specialty Center, which has locations in Alma and Mt. Pleasant. He is a graduate of Universidad Peruanna Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He completed a pediatrics residency and internship at the State University of New York, Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Lossio has been in practice since 2001.

Luis Peña-Hernandez, M.D.

Advanced Medicine Clerkship Director

Dr. Pena-Hernandez is a pulmononogy and critical care specialist with MidMichigan Physicians Group. He graduated from Ponificia Universidad in Colombia, completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Teona Maghlakelidze, M.D.

Internal Medicine Clerkship Director

Dr. Maghlakelidze is board certified in Internal Medicine. She has been in practice since 2007 and practices with MidMichigan Physicians Group in Midland. Dr. Teona is fluent in English, Russian and Georgian and after graduation from Medical School in the Georgian region of Russia completed a residency in internal medicine with Synergy in Saginaw.
