Heart Patients Supported by May Mitchell Royal Foundation
The quality of MidMichigan Medical Center–Midland’s comprehensive heart and vascular program has been enhanced by a $10,000 donation from the May Mitchell Royal Foundation. This contribution has been used to purchase a ZOLL AutoPulse® Automated Chest Compression System for MidMichigan’s Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
According to Jan Penney, R.N., M.S.N., director of emergency and cardiovascular services at the Medical Center in Midland, this equipment will be a valuable addition in supporting patients receiving a cardiac catheterization procedure.
“The AutoPulse System provides reliable and consistent chest compressions (CPR) to help support a patient suffering an acute cardiac event,” explained Penney. “In the Cardiac Cath Lab, where time is essential to reopen clogged arteries, the device provides the CPR, freeing critical staff to perform other tasks to benefit the patient.”
In addition to this most recent grant, previous gifts from the May Mitchell Royal Foundation have supported equipment for MidMichigan’s Radiation Oncology Department, Center for Women’s Health and Laboratory Department, among other needs.
