Comprehensive Heart and Vascular Team Expanded
Interventional Cardiologist Andy S. Boguszewski, M.D., has joined MidMichigan Physicians Group in Midland and Clare as a member of the comprehensive heart and vascular team at MidMichigan Health. This team includes cardiologists, interventional cardiologists and electrophysiologists, as well as vascular and open heart surgeons. This comprehensive team cares for patients with a variety of conditions such as coronary heart disease, heart attack, congestive heart failure, congenital heart disease, heart rhythm disorders, peripheral vascular disease and other conditions affecting the heart and circulatory system.
Dr. Boguszewski received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Roseau, Dominica. He completed his residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, where he also went on to complete fellowships in general and clinical cardiology, as well as interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular disease.
He was drawn to the specialty of cardiology during his internal medicine residency. “While working with one of my mentors, I realized that almost every patient had some type of cardiac history or issue,” Dr. Boguszewski said. “This raised my awareness to the overall scope of the problem and led me to my interest in general cardiology. From there, I realized the overall magnitude of coronary disease and had a strong desire to be able to impact treatment of the disease through interventional means.”
Dr. Boguszewski’s advanced training enables him to offer both general cardiology and interventional services. Cardiology tests and procedures he provides include stress testing, transesophageal echocardiography and diagnostic cardiac catheterization via the radial artery in the wrist. He also performs a wide variety of interventional procedures, including angioplasty and stent implantation, laser and rotational athrectomy, throbectory, intra-aortic balloon pump insertion and management, peripheral interventions and DVT catheter-based thrombolytic therapy.
“My goal is to share what I know to help my patients understand what is going on with their heart,” he said. “I believe in treating my patients as if they’re members of my family, spending time getting to know them and working with them to get to the root of their problem to discuss treatment plan options. I believe in making decisions collaboratively with my patients.”
Dr. Boguszewski’s main office is located at 301 W. Wackerly Street in Midland. He also sees patients at his satellite office in MidMichigan Medical Offices–Clare, 602 Beech Street, Suite 1200.
